I used APC for years but decided to try another brand because of the significantly lower price. Guess what – here I am back buying APC again. Why? Because APC is worth the price.

I have a single tower PC w/ large power supply, a few small things like hubs, smart home bridges, etc., on it and it runs smoothly when everything is on. When I first plugged it in, it off-gassed a lot! For about a day or two, the room smelled like something died under the house. Left the window open and soon things were back to normal. I have the Ethernet card in it so I can share it for shutdown. It turns out that was not strictly necessary, as my NAS could have plugged in via USB and then it served as the UPS server for other things. If you have a NAS, check out if it can shutdown your other things if connected via USB.

Having used APC in the past and then looked for a cheaper alternative I went to TrippLite. Now I am back to using nothing but APC. This model, as most other APC’s are easy to setup. The built-in web page for the Network Management Card loads fast and is easy to use.
