This series of cyber power UPS is the only model that doesn’t have leakage current to trigger the GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) outlets. It has power factor ~ 1.0 (1000VA/1000W). Very impressive.

After series of power outages, we looked for a UPS that can protect our data / hard drives on recently purchased synology NAS. Did some research on trade-offs and finally placed order of PR1000LCD at B&H. Reason for PR vs. CP: PR series has full AVR (could be more tolerating to generator, not yet tried), longer battery run time and more options in setup / softwares. LCD display was informative but a few lines were missing at beginning of power-up. After a few hours breaking-in the problem went away and has been no issues. I really like the display and setup capability. I was curious about 4ms transfer time as in spec. All connected equipments, plasma tv, blu-ray, Asus 68u router, motorola 6121 modem, of course main reason, Synology 214+ and WD external hard drive, worked fine when UPS is unplugged / plugged back in. Fan only kicks in when on battery power, noise is noticeable but tolerable. runtime is a little over 3 hours with router, modem, NAS and external hard drive. Connected PR’s USB to windows 8.1 computer and downloaded Powerpanel Business Edition (2.5). A little bit challenging at beginning to figure out the email notification (smtp mail server setup) but once set and done, it sends out email notification as instructed. Connected PR’s USB to Synology 214+: NAS immediately recognized the UPS and set up was easy. UPS and NAS functioned as intended: NAS recognizes power outage / on battery and shuts down both NAS and UPS before battery runs out). Overall the product was well-designed / built and provides a piece of mind on data equipments

I purchased the CyberPower PR1000LCD to replace an older Belkin FC650 Pro Gold (which will get a new battery for use with an older Mac and a TV). I needed a UPS that would protect against transient surges and brownouts as well as total power failures. I also wanted pure sine wave output. After that, the features that influenced my decision include: connected equipment guarantee ability to communicate with a Mac user replaceable batteries energy saving mode 8 outlets quiet removable front display panel This last feature is one I hadn’t considered until I read about it in the description; but after using it, I would not buy another UPS without it (or something equally functional). In the nearly inaccessible space behind my computer, I can now get to both the display and the outlets without moving anything. So far, I have only two minor complaints. First, a large AC adapter block can cover the next outlet. Technically, this is not the fault of the UPS, but of accessory designers who don’t think ahead about how their products will actually be used. It is also easily solved by use of a short heavy duty 3 outlet extension cord. Second, while the removable display will stand on its own, the slightest touch will knock it over. Some sort of slide out or folding support would be a very welcome addition. And, yes, the unit is large and heavy, but that will be the case with any comparable UPS. This one seems very solid and well made. My computer is a Mac, so I haven’t used the included (Windows only) software. But the Mac recognizes the unit and adds UPS options in the Energy Saver panel of System Preferences. Also, sinceI have not had a power failure after installing the PR1000LCD, I can’t comment on that aspect yet. However, I am fully confident that my equipment is well protected from any power problems.

We have used another make of UPS for several years. Recently we started to see major problems with the new models of the other brand so we switched to CyberPower and could not be happier. Right out of the box there was vast improvements over the other guys – these unit work, no problem, no service call and no bs! We are now switching all of our older other brands out for CyberPower PR1000LCD models and our UPS problems are going away. Great job CyberPower

So far so good… we’ll see in 5-6 years time… UPSs usually stop working after 5-6 years because the batteries don’t recharge anymore… I like this unit and all works fine. The only thing I would improve is the manual… terrible! Why to print in extremely small fonts and figs.? Why not a proper web site with a MULTIMEDIA INTERACTIVE MANUAL on how to set it up, like Step 1, 2, 3, etc. really simple… one would think. I am a pro engineer and I find this manual terrible… else all works (for the time being…)
