The latches work just fine and are really well built. The only issue is that it’s relatively easy to replace them if you have the time and pliers. On one hand that is great for the costumer but someone with bad intentions and time wouldn’t have a hard time trying to remove them themselves. Another issue is that the TSA keys the latches work with are just universal keys and not unique so anyone with a TSA key can open them. I won’t be checking this case at all on a trip so I only needed a way to lock them for day-to-day use. If you do intend to check this bag on a trip, make sure you add a lock that has a safer locking system. Other than these two factors, the latches are great and provide the security I need for every day use.

I recently (July, October) purchased two Nanuk 935 hard cases for my camera equipment. My wife after learning of the availability of the TSA Latch Retrofit Kits suggested I purchase these for a little extra security… Yes I know a thief could simply pick up the case and walk off with it but the point of these is to slow down the thief make them move on to an easier target therefore saving you from a bad experience… As I mentioned I have two Nanuk 935 cases and I changed all four latches out in about ten minutes, the instructions are very straight forward. Two keys are provided with each kit, and they’re all keyed the same making only one key necessary to carry… These TSA Latch Kits aren’t a necessity but they do provide some extra peace of mind thus I think they’re worth the expense.
