Designed for small work groups and home offices, and featuring PrecisionCore technology, users will enjoy sharp prints with a 4800 x 1200 dpi resolution and excellent speeds of up to 15 ppm. A variety of different document sizes are easily handled from small 3.5 x 5″ cards to large 8.5 x 47.2″ banners. The printer is also capable of automatic duplex printing and features built-in Wi-Fi for direct connections to mobile devices where users can connect using Wi-Fi Direct, Epson Email Print, Epson Remote Print, Epson Scan to Cloud, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria, and more.
This printer has a few ways of handling media, including a 250-sheet standard input tray and a 30-sheet ADF. Also, it sports an 8.5 x 11.7″ flatbed scanner and can handle scanning, copying up to 8.5 x 14″ from the ADF. The scan unit features an optical resolution of 2400 dpi, ensuring crisp images and copies are produced. For ease of use, the WF-4700 is equipped with a 2.4″ color touchscreen, enabling fast, intuitive operation, and this unit includes enough ink to print up to 14,000 black pages and enough ink to print up to 11,200 color pages. Additionally, the printer has USB and Ethernet connections for those who prefer a wired setup.

I purchased the ST-4000 to replace my older HP6600 inkjet. The cost of ink for the old printer was rediculous expensive and it no longer produced decent color images. And the amount of ink that came with it should last for 2 years or more.

We had an Epson 4720 and I loved the speed, but at $180 per cartridge change (for all 4 XL) I couldn’t take it any more. The ST-4000 is a little slower, and uses dye based color ink (4720 uses pigment) so I was hesitant at first. In fact, we bought this printer once and then sent it back without opening because I was so unsure. We have it now and we absolutely love it! The black ink is pigment which is good for shipping labels and other important things that we don’t want to be affected by rain. The colors are good, and we don’t see any issue with the dye ink. Actually dye ink is easier to unclog later if that was to become an issue, but we have not had any issues at all. The printer is also a lot smaller than the 4720 – really nice perk! Another great feature is that this printer has a user serviceable maintenance box (waste ink box). It’s about $10 from epson and you don’t have to hack your firmware to change it. No “Printer end of life messages” like on cheaper models. Oh and at least right now, this printer comes with a guarantee to have enough ink for 2years. If you use up the 2 sets of ink and need to buy more within 2 years, there is a rebate form you can fill out- THANK YOU B&H for sending that over after the purchase! So far we have over 4,100 pages through the printer and we’re just below half on the first ink fill. So the economy of the printer is working out as advertised. Buy with confidence! I reached out to Epson, and the solution for now is to restart the printer whenever I have problems. I have not had issues for a while since speaking with them.
