Straightforward installation and worked well right away. I’m not sure about the performance yet – I still need to run some benchmarks, but it seems to run as expected. I’ve already transferred a large about of data from my existing primary drive (1TB) which was very full. I also verified the new drive is getting backed up to my 6TB Seagate USB backup drive successfully.

I use this drive in my machine for holding onto photos. I’m a professional photographer and my RAW files are about 92MB uncompressed. Having a drive this big is very helpful, however ingest can be an issue. I typically transfer from my card to an SSD I edit off of. Then I’ll move those files to this HDD. The transfer speed from anywhere to this drive starts fast and quickly drops and can take some time. I don’t mind since I’ve already uploaded them to an SSD however if you plan on using this primarily then be prepared to deal with some sluggishness. I’m satisfied with the performance and storage per dollar, I doubt I’ll need another big drive for some time.

I’ll probably get another when/if they are back in stock. There are more supply chain shortages coming after all.

This 8 TB drive is a great value for the huge drive it is. Sea gates are reliable too.

Although its 5400 rpm this hard drive is really fast compared to the other hard drives I used, the packaging was also great.

I needed a large capacity drive for a home server setup and settled on this one. While the 5400 PRM is less than the usual 7200 or even faster, I’ve had good success with the BarraCuda line before and went with this one. Even with the lower RPM, it still makes good SATA III benchmarks, so an happy with it, and of course the B&H ease in ordering and free 2-day shipping.

These drives are supposed to be your normal barracuda 5400 rpm drive. You expect to get some where around 190MB/s read and write. However, my drive came with SMR. This dropped my writes to 45MB/s or lower causing issues on my computer. I only planned on putting some large files and games on the hard drive, but it was causing issues with my entire pc. Needless to say I am returning it, but beware for those that think these drives are the same ones from a year ago. They are not, and you have been warned.

I’ve been using one of these 5400 rpm seagate drives for a number of years now, and it’s been solid. Just picked up a second to expand my total storage. It’s slow, but runs cool and relatively quiet. Probably wouldn’t recommend this as your primary drive for games and other performance demanding applications, but otherwise it’s a great choice.

Used for a backup computer. Be aware its way slower then a SSD but at 1/4 cost i’m not complaining when its being used just to backup data.

People sometimes talk about these drives not being great but I haven’t run into that problem. I use them to store old video footage (I run a video production company). I usually pull the stored drives out from time to time during a year and they alway work. Cheap solution to long term storage backup.

I quickly needed a new hard drive to replace another that was failing. This 8TB drive (7.27TB available after formatting) gives me a lot of room to save big files at a reasonable cost. An SSD would naturally be much faster, but simply too expensive at over 700 bucks. I ran the AJ System Test on the drive for a 4K file, and it clocked in at 133 MB/sec for a write speed and a 137 MB/sec for a read speed.
