I installed the Seagate FireCuda into my computer to replace my C hard drive. After I installed the FireCude I cloned my C hard drive onto the FireCude and after shutting down the computer and disconnecting the C hard drive I booted up the computer. It came up in less than 10 seconds, before it would take at least two minutes sometimes longer and the hard drive would be running at 100%. It would take a few more minutes before the hard drive was no longer running at 100% and programs would start to respond. With the FireCude everything starts right away. Programs load really quick and virus scans can run in the background without hogging the system. When I backup the computer it only takes a third of the time now. Everything responds quicker now. This thing is a great upgrade.

The FireCuda 510 is the slightly slower cousin to the FireCuda 520. The SSD is PCIe Gen 4 so you will need a motherboard that has M.2 socket with PCIe Gen 4. Essentially, mount the SSD, configure your system so it sees the SSD, and you are ready. Throughput is incredibly fast. You could easily use this a boot/system disk. In my system I use this as the storage and install point for the games, and also to hold several virtualized systems that are using for testing software. I never have experienced any throughput issue, timeouts, etc. I do recommend using a heatsink on the SSD if you plan to have continuous I/O or something that will stress the SSD.

The terms of Seagate’s warranties are legendary in the computing world, and it’s not hard to see why. Their drives are twice as reliable in my experience (have been a hardware tech for almost 30 years) as almost any other manufacturer. I have had Seagate drives that outlived 3 consecutive Western Digitals under about the same workloads. This drive didn’t have stellar benchmarks on some sites, but I will have to disagree, having benchmarked it myself and received higher numbers than most of the people who posted theirs (I have to wonder how full, and of what, theirs were). I would definitely recommend this drive, especially at the price point.
