I’m using it as a Netflix server. The devise seems ok but the software is atrociously non intuitive and wanky. Haven’t used the Netflix side of it yet. Instructions are mostly useless

I have had a WD My Cloud NAS drive for several years. I thought the My Cloud Home was the new version of that product. IT IS NOT. All I wanted was a simple network file server like the one I currently have. This product (My Cloud Home) is completely different, WD did a poor job differentiating the two products in the marketing ad copy. From what I can tell, this behaves more like personal cloud storage to backup mobile devices and that can be linked to other cloud services and social media websites.

Bought this as a replacement for my slowly dying Apple AirPort Time Capsule. Setup was relatively smooth, and the WD My Cloud is working as good, if not better, than the Time Capsule did. And it has enough space to back up all four of my family’s MacBooks. Haven’t used any of the other WD features, so I can’t comment on that.

I bought this specifically to use as a home-based cloud storage & the product is working as advertised. Easy to setup & the App works flawlessly. A+++++++++

Good price for capacity. Once set-up, works flawlessly. Set-up documentation does not properly address Mac / Apple environment – must search through WD Knowledge Base to learn how to connect Apple Time Machine using the “Guest” user. Also, mapping My Cloud Home NAS Hard-Drive to Finder in Mac OS can only be completed through the WD Discover App on Mac.

No service support when it fails. Disk is compromised after 3 months of use. Software is non-intuitive and the online web application sucks and is confusing.

Great product for ordinary user without it knowledge. Just replaces Google photos, one drive, and other clouds where you have to pay every month. I don’t understand opinions that it doesn’t work like other external drive or NAS. It isn’t that kind of product. It’s name is mycloud and it works perfectly as cloud solution.

I have 6 WD Mycloud NAS products. and I’m very happy with them. This new line is complete garbage. You don’t have any control over settings. You cannot create shares with different access for different users. You cannot SSH. You can do nothing!

Functionality is so poor. It’s basically only for backup your photos from phone. It’s not working as a NAS server. You can watch your photos or videos only with PLEX app, which is annoying. Mobile app is very bad. Desktop app is even worse. Most of utilities is not working. Very disappointing product. Do not recommend.

The my cloud home device is garbage it does not work at all you can’t even load music files or video files past 30 gigs which is a well known issue that haven’t been fixed.contacting costumer service will get you no help because they don’t know how to troubleshoot the divide themselves. In my opinion and from the rest of the people with similar issues ” please stay away from this my cloud brand. “

I had great times with Mycloud device. Yes downloading something from it could be slow but it always my computers and phones backed up. I hate that I have to buy another one in order to keep being able to access remotely and what happens to all the files on it?

Not sure it ever worked. Our Mac hard drive needed to be replaced…guess what? This device doesn’t even seem to power up! Thank goodness for the cloud.

I have owned many WD products and loved them all. That’s why I purchased this product. Never in my wildest imagination could I have imagined WD producing a product that is such total junk. I own a WD My Cloud 6TB that I use to do my Mac TimeMachine backups and cache local files. I purchased this device to serve as a portable companion to that device, for when I am on the road and need mass storage and backups. This device is is NOT that! It is simply a “share all my files with the world” over the Internet and does not support any of the NAS features that made the old My Cloud device such an excellent personal NAS system. The worst thing about the device (besides not being user configurable or managed) is that you can’t even use it on an isolated LAN. It HAS to have Internet connectivity to even function! You can’t carry it with you and use it for backups when you don’t have internet. To me, the device is utterly worthless, and I am sending it back.

I like the mycloud units but wish they were more controllable from the cloud. I have each in a different location and have to use a unique email to manage them. Seems WD could come up with a better plan. but that is my only complaint

Replaced a prior WD NAS server that was used for Time Machine on 3 computers. When it finally died, I didn’t want to get this one because the prior one caused all kinds of problems when shutting down MACs. This one however, works flawlessly

It will work well as a cloud storage device. But the new HD will not work with Smartware, and will be limited in setting by the user! The OLD GUI was way better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
